Electric Winch and Battery Charger for Boat Trailer

Question:

Im considering replacing manual winch and jack on my boat trailer. What size battery do you recommend. The only battery mounting location is on top of the tongue which is on four inches wide. I plan to attach the battery to the aux power on 7pin junction box so it will charge while truck is running. Thanks

So there isn't a recommended size of battery because you'll be using a 12 volt, and there isn't going to be enough difference (in terms of size) that will matter in regards to using one over the other. I also wanted to point out that batteries do not charge from your 7-way, they only get maintained, so to charge a 12 volt battery you will need a separate charger, the NOCO Genius Smart Battery Charger # 329-GENIUS2.

Then for an electric winch Dutton-Lainson TW4000 StrongArm Electric Winch - Marine - 4,000 lbs # DL25200.

You can mount this with the Dutton-Lainson Angle Mounting Plate for StrongArm Electric Winches # DL24059.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
