Are Air Bags Needed for 2019 Ford F-250 Pulling Heavy RV
Question:
Hi- I have a new 2019 F250 4WD, and I will be pulling a rental RV in a few months. Do I need airbags, and if so, which ones? The RVs are as heavy as 10k lbs, but most less than that. I am new to towing, so want as much help as I can get. Also, do most auto shops install them? I don’t want to attempt it. Thanks

I highly recommend getting air bags for your 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty for towing RVs that are as heavy as 10,000 lbs. The issue is that due to the amount of weight that the RVs put on the rear of your truck, what will happen is that your truck's back end will sag a bit, lifting up the front end. What this does is make your truck more difficult to handle when turning or braking, while also wearing down your tires. So there is no downside and much upside to installing air bags, which will help mitigate those problems.
For your 2019 Ford F-250 I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57399.
These are going to give your truck's suspension the support it needs for the best handling and braking while you tow. The only other thing I recommend considering is a compressor system, so you can easily adjust the air pressure of the springs from the comfort of your cab, the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Remote - Bluetooth # AL25980.
A local auto shop will absolutely be able to install these parts for you with a problem. I have added links to video reviews of the springs and compressor for you to check out as well.
