I would like self adjusting brakes. I need to a list of required parts for install. The trailer is tandem axle bit I believe only one axle has brakes.

You will need to simply measure the diameter of your hubs to get the correct parts. If you have 10 inch hubs then you will want the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA. If you have 12 inch hubs then you instead will use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA.
Then you will run your # 12-1-1 wire to the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box # HS381-9000.
On your 1996 Tahoe, if you don't already have a 7-way you will need to add the # ETBC7 to get the other functions. There should already be an orange or red wire and a blue wire run to the driver's side frame rail near the wheel that will have wires already run under the dash for your brake controller. I recommend using the Prodigy P3 # 90195 for your brake controller which will use the wires under your dash. I've attached a video to assist as well as a couple help articles.
