Recommended Parts to Stabilize Tow Bar in 2-1/2" Motorhome Receiver
Question:
I have a motorhome with a 2-1/2inch receiver and a 2inch tow bar. I am considering purchasing the Curt reducer sleeve to step the receiver down to 2. Is the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III for 2-1/2inch Hitch with 2inch Adapter BX88312 the right item to get? Are there less costly items that would give me a similar outcome? Could I use a Roadmaster Quiet Hitch RM-062 or would this be incompatible with the reducer? I also found the XL Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2-1/2inch Hitches - 3-1/2inch Span. Can you advise on which of these solutions would work best?

For your setup I like what you've found so far and I recommend the following parts:
Curt Reducer Sleeve - # C45405
Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III - # BX88312
XL Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - # SHP2040-XL (as long as the tow bar has a hollow shank)
I know the Blue Ox is more pricey than the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-062, but it also is able to help stabilize both up and down movement, as well as side-to-side. The Quiet Hitch is more for the up and down movement. It can handle some of the side to side, but not as well as the Blue Ox system.
