How Many Screws to Should be Used for Re-Decking Trailer

Question:

My triler re-decking project is going to use treated 2 x 8s horizontal across the steel frame. It will be screwed into a wood stringer down the middke and into the steel frame on the sides. Can I use one torx screw per board to screw it into the steel? The boards will also overhang the trailer by a bit and I plan on screwing a treated 2 x 4 lengthwise to the bottom of each board to help prevent cupping and tie everything together.

When securing things down I tend to think "the more the merrier" so I personally would probably put at least 2 of the 2-1/4" Long Standard Torx Trailer Floor and Wall Liner Screw # TFX225 per board per crossbeam especially if the plan is to use the trailer frequently and for large loads. The choice is ultimately up to you though to be honest.

This screw actually comes in a 40-pack as well with part # TF01225 so since you're doing a whole re-decking project I'd buy in bulk.

If you don't already have a 1/4" hex drill bit we also have that as part # TX430-1.
