The Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV is an excellent option for a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado when used with the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers part # C51515. The wires under the dash are already ran and labeled for you.

Once the wires under the dash are hooked up, all you will need to do is make one connection under the hood in the engine bay. This connection is a red wire to the right of the fuse box which needs to be attached to the M6 stud on the fuse box with part # 185916. I have attach a photo below.

The other wire you are seeing next to the brake booster is for 12 volt power to the 7-way which is not required for the brake controller install.

According to the owner's manual for your Silverado, the red/black wire behind the dash is for 12V power to the brake controller - although I still recommend testing it to be certain. This would not be the 12V wire to the 7-Way connector.
