How to Carry Two Canoes on Roof of 2019 Honda Passport with Factory Crossbars

Question:

Sorry but I'm looking to install a 72" crossbar on my passport but I don't have a way to attach the new bar to the existing bar. Sorry for the confusion. I have factory crossbars (left to right) and the rails they attach to. I am looking for a device (4) that would attach to the crossbar and would attach to the 72" crossbar.

Your best option is to use the Thule Compass Watersport Carrier # TH890000. The Compass is compatible with round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars, including the ones on your 2019 Honda Passport.

It can easily accommodate your two canoes, as long as their combined weight is not over 130 lbs, and they are not more than 36 inches wide (at their widest point). The Compass will allow you to carry your two canoes in a vertical (post-style) position so you have one on each side of carrier, as shown in the attached photo. This means that you would have no problem fitting your two canoes on your 72 inch long crossbars.

I've attached a review video for you to check out at the bottom of the page.

I have an option for you, but it involves replacing your factory crossbars with the longer ones you're looking for. There isn't a product that would attach directly to your factory crossbars and provide the longer bars on top of those. The closest solution would be to use part # Y33TR, along with # Y03536, so you can attach Y00411, which would give you 78 inch crossbars. These can easily be cut down to your desired length of 72 inches. Keep in mind that if you use a carrier like the Thule Compass # TH890000, your kayaks would sit on top of the roof vertically (as opposed to horizontally), so they would not take up nearly as much space. Therefore, you would not need your crossbars to be that long.
