Question:
I need a lightweight trailer hitch for my 12 foot fishing boat and wiring harness . Could you tell me which one will fit my car? Thanks

You're halfway there, because the Curt # C11497 you were looking at is a confirmed fit on your 2000 Subaru Impreza. This hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver and will install on your vehicle without any drilling required. For wiring, I recommend using the # C59496 since the converters are a bit more reliable compared to the other ones available. I also like that this kit comes with a circuit tester for added convenience since this harness does require hard wiring into your vehicle.
If you also need a ball mount, you can use the Curt # C45022 which is compatible with 1-1/4" hitches and accepts hitch balls with 3/4" shanks. If you need a 1-7/8" hitch ball you can use the # C40001 or if you need a 2" hitch ball you'll want to use something like the # C40018.
I've linked some installation videos of a similar hitch on a slightly newer Subaru Impreza that you can use as a basic guide to follow, as well as a video installation of the Tekonsha harness.
