The Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 is a really solid choice for a brake controller for your 2017 Ram with the Hemi 5.7L engine. Since you already have a 7 and 4-Pole trailer connector on the back, all you need is the custom adapter # 3024-P to allow for a plug and play installation. The Primus IQ is able to control up to 6 brake assemblies, or 3 axles with electric brakes, which should be plenty enough for the 23 ft trailer you plan to move from Chicago to Florida.
If you were planning on towing regularly - more than just this one move - then spending a little more to go with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will be well worth it in my opinion. The main advantage it has over the # TK90160 is the easy-to-understand roadside diagnostics display. The P3 advanced diagnostics not only notify you of potential problems, but they can also tell you where to begin troubleshooting, all displayed in actual words, as opposed to codes that you would need to decipher using an instruction manual, like with the Primus IQ.
Both the # TK90160 and # 90195 offer truly proportional braking, use the same custom adapter # 3024-P for your Ram and are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Check out the video at the bottom of the page showing the P3 installed on a similar year Ram.
