Installing 7-Way Wire Harness on 2018 Chrysler Pacifica L Plus No Brake Controller
Question:
7-plug wiring harness for my Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Plus Our dealer just charged me $599.00 to install a hitch and then told me to install a harness would be $238.00 plus $750.00 labor! Im almost 80 years old but not completely useless. How difficult would it be or do you have a better option? I wont need to wire in brakes.

Oh my. Yeah please don't go with what they are offering you. Wiring can be intimidating but it isn't $1,000 intimidating. Unfortunately this kind of pricing seems to be a common thing when it comes to dealership installs, but no need to worry because we have everything you need for wiring and I'm confident that you can get it done as it's more tedious than difficult.
For your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica I recommend using the T-One # 118712. This tees in behind your tail lights and then you route the black power wire to your vehicle battery to power your trailer lights. I've attached an installation video we have of this wiring kit on a 2018 Pacifica that you can use to see how it will install beforehand, as well as a guide during the installation.
Then for a 7-Way you just need the Adapter # 37185 which simply plugs into the 4-Way connector from the T-One and then you make your ground connection and tie all of the other wires off since you just need the basic trailer lighting functions. This adapter not only gives you the 7-Way that you're needing, but it also has a 4-Way socket in case you ever need to utilize that option.
If the trailer hitch they installed already has a bracket for the wiring connector, then you are set and ready to go. However if your trailer hitch doesn't have the bracket, like the etrailer # e98903, then you'll also need the bracket # C57202 to secure the adapter near your hitch receiver.
The last thing you need to complete your towing setup is a ball mount. If you don't already have one then I recommend taking a look at the kit # 989891 which includes a 1-7/8" hitch ball, 2" hitch ball, a ball mount with a 3/4" rise/2" drop, a pin and clip, as well as a storage bag. You will want to check out the attached ball mount article to ensure that this ball mount has the correct rise/drop for your towing application.
In addition to some videos, I've also linked some helpful articles on trailer towing and routing that power wire for you to check out.
