Can Umbilical Between Motorhome and Flat Towed Vehicle Be Used to Charge Vehicle Battery  

Question:

i have a 2013 jeep wrangler sport that i am going to tow behind my winnebago I purchased my tow bars base plate and brake buddy classic from you.I have a 6 prong plug on both the r v and the jeep ,my question is can i just use the auxillary post on the 6 plug to power my battery charger.I am only using 4 prongs for my lights and everything works but the charger didnt come on when i attached it to the A post,thanks.

You can certainly do that. You'll want to be sure to wire the pin on the vehicle side to correspond with the 12-v power supply pin on the 6-way motorhome trailer connector however. Some 6-ways use the center pin as the brake controller output, some use it as the 12-volt power feed, so you'll want to ensure both sides are wired the same way. Roadmaster offers a purpose-built circuit protected kit for this, part # RM-156-25.

Keep in mind that the circuit is capable of providing a maintenance charge, but it won't charge up a dead battery. You might consider keeping a battery charger like the NOCO # 329-GENIUS5 and a good extension cord handy.
