Recommended Suspension Enhancement Option for a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4

Question:

when I hook up to my trailer to the back of my truck, will go down about 2, front will come up about 1/2+. that makes head lights high. What is the best item to use to keep the truck level. I thought maybe, the firestone 2430 ride rite air bag may work ok. what ideas do you have? I have a GMC 1500 half ton, 5.3 2016 crew cab, 4x4. SLE. If I use the firestone air bags, is it better to have a union tee in the air line back near the bumper? noaccessories

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2430 are arguably the best suspension enhancement option for a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. Therefore, this is absolutely the route I recommend taking. The reason they are the best is because you can adjust the level of support/comfort for any give load/trailer so you will always get the best ride and performance. The Firestone brand in particular has been on the market the longest and offers the most overall durable product. I have personally installed several of their kits and they are easier to install than their competitors as well.

Please note, the headlight aim being off is a noticeable issue but what is really at stake is decreased braking and steering with weight being transferred off the front axle and the air bags will fix this. Furthermore, the unloaded ride quality will not be affected unlike some other suspension enhancement options.

In regards to installation, most people use the t-fitting so the system operates as a dual path and that is what I recommend for towing a boat trailer.
