Trailer hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Honda CR-V for a Bike Rack
Question:
How far does the receiver protrude from the rear of the 2012 Honda CRV? I need a 2inch receiver hitch to carry my bike on our new CRV. The Curt #C13119 looks like it would work, but I am concerned that I might bang my shin on the exposed receiver when the bike rack is not attached? What do you think? Is there another receiver hitch that you would recommend for this application. I really dont need a class III hitch as the CRV is only rated for pulling 1,500 pounds.

On the Curt trailer hitch # C13119 and the Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 75742, the face of the receiver would be approximately 1/2 inch from the furthest part out of the rear bumper. The probability of hitting your shins on the receiver of either hitch is relatively low. The lower Class hitches actually come out a little further so going with a Class III would be the way to go. I have included some instruction links for you.
The Curt hitch is going to require the use of a stabilization strap # 18050 for any non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers for Curts warranty. The Draw-Tite hitch does not require a strap so I would go with it.
