What is the Best Fifth Wheel Hitch for my 2011 Ram 2500 Shortbed With a B&W Gooseneck Installed?
Question:
Hello, New to the 5th wheel world and unsure about what hitch is best for me. First details about truck: 2011 Ram 2500 crew cab short bed. Already has a gooseneck in it that from center of ball measures 32 inches from back of cab and 45.5 inches to edge of bed. Trailer: 2007 Bighorn 3055RL. I did look through your site for different answers to problems and found a guide that used a formula that by my measurements gives me nothing but negative numbers in the end so hopefully you can help me figure this out. According to the guide on here these are the measurements I have: A - cab to center of hitch gooseneck: 32 B - kingpin to forward edge of trailer: -5 C - half of trailer width: 49 D - center of hitch to edge of bed: 45.5 E - kingpin to front recessed area of trailer: 77 I hope this makes sense....of course all measurements are in inches as best could be taken. I really don’t want to put rails in the bed so Im hoping there is a gooseneck to kingpin base that a slider can go on that will work for me. Appreciate your time and thanks in advance for the suggestion on my problem. V/R

It appears that you already have a B&W Underbed Gooseneck Hitch from what you've indicated. With that in place your best bet here is to go with the B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3400 . The companion has the slider function that gives you an additional 12" of clearance when doing the tighter maneuvers. It is a very easy to use hitch and has proven to be one of the best. It has a lot of great features built in to ensure that your towing experience is a great one. I've included a video Jake did on it below to give you more specifics on it and it's construction.
