Trailer Hitch Recommended For 2020 Subaru Outback
Question:
What's the difference between the Curt and EcoHitch hitches you offer for the 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon?

Expert Reply:
Both hitches are what's called a concealed design, which means that the crossbar is concealed behind the bumper, and the only visible portion of the hitch would be the receiver tube and the safety chain loops.
Both hitches install in similar fashion, with the rear bumper beam being removed and the hitch mounted in its place. The Curt # C67JR hitch instructions call for the beam to be replaced so the hitch is sandwiched between the bumper structure and the trunk pan, while the EcoHitch # EH34FR instructions call for the hitch itself to take the place of the bumper structure. Once installed, the hitches appear pretty much identical.
If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the Curt, as it's less expensive and it leaves the rear bumper structure in place which would provide you extra protection in a collision.
If you'll be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, part # C56040, a # 2753 ball mount and a # 19260 for 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.
