Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Honda Pilot with Hands Free Liftgate

Question:

What 2” inch hitch and wiring system do I need to purchase for my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring model so that It does not interfere with the hands free power tailgate? I plan to use the hitch for my bike rack or a 5’ x 8’ U-Haul cargo trailer that I rent when moving kids in/out of college apartments. Thank you

All of the hitches we offer for your 2019 Honda Pilot will still allow your hands free liftgate to function properly by kicking to either side of the hitch opening. The best option with this in mind is the e98840 part # e98840 since it's safety chain loops mount vertically to the hitch tube which means the least amount of interference.

Then for trailer wiring the Tekonsha kit part # 118760 is the most reliable option and installs easily so it's what I recommend.

If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
