Brake Controller Recommendation for 2020 Telluride

Question:

Ive purchased this vehicle with tow package but in is not equipped to tow a Kingston two horse bumper pull horse trailer. The horse trailer has its own braking system and a 7 hole thing to connect. What specific parts doe I need to make this work

I'm assuming your trailer has a 7-way trailer connector. In order to proceed further, we'll need to identify whether the trailer has an electric over hydraulic brake system or an electric brake system. The easiest way to ascertain this would be to examine the trailer brake assemblies from the rear. If you see two wires exiting the back of each brake assembly, you have electric brakes. If there's a rubber hose or a steel brake line, you have an electric over hydraulic braking system.

Either system would be dealt with basically the same. You'll need to install a trailer brake controller on the tow vehicle. I'd recommend an easy to install proportional brake controller like the Curt Echo, part # C51180. The Echo would install using the # ETBC7L installation kit. The controller would use your smartphone as the control unit in the vehicle, so you wouldn't need to permanently install anything in the vehicle interior. The Echo is compatible with electric as well as electric over hydraulic brakes. I've linked you to a product description video explaining how the Echo works as well as to a video showing the echo being installed in a mid-sized SUV similar to your Telluride.
