Will Installed Trailer Hitch Block Hands-Free Liftgate Feature on 2019 Ford Edge
Question:
2019 Ford Edge Titanium trim... Some hitches will block or limit the tailgate open option waiving your foot under tailgate. The lesser capacity hitch states will limit it down the centerline... but this makes no mention of it. Does that mean the use of that feature is unaffected?

Actually, all of the hitches available for the 2019 Ford Edge, regardless of trim level will have the sensors for the Hands-Free liftgate feature blocked at the middle of the bumper. This is because the receiver tube extends below the bumper and would sit between where you'd sweep your foot and the liftgate sensor. The system uses 3 or 4 sensors (depends on the vehicle) and the sensors will still pick up movement but you'll need to sweep your foot to the left or right of the center of the bumper. Of the available options, I'd recommend the # 75234 as most of the hitch will be concealed behind the bumper.
If you'll be using the hitch for towing, you'll need a few other items to complete your towing system. For a trailer wiring harness, use # C73FR. For a ball mount, use # C45070, for a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch.
I've linked to an installation video for the # 75234 hitch.
