Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System For HQ15 Black Series

Question:

I own a GMC Canyon AT Diesel truck and a HQ15 Black Series trailer. The trailer has a 6000lb gross weight with a curb weight of 4900lbs. I am looking at purchasing a Equalizer Distribution system. Should I purchase the 6000lbs system or go one size up to the 10000lbs system. I will be using a McHitch for the hitch and not a ball.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Equal-i-zer is hard to recommend a system for if the tongue weight is exactly 600 lbs, but since it's often times the case that trailer tongue weight is up to 15 percent of the total trailer weight the part # EQ37100ET would be what I recommend which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs.

Only thing you'll also need is a thin walled socket to install the hitch ball like the part # ALL643216 and you'd be set.
