Why is Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Adapter Twisting

Question:

Greetings! I purchased this hitch due to its light weight and have used it twice. No complaints, BUT... Ive noticed the frame cants about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch from center both times Ive hauled my 5th wheel. I checked all my torque settings and even torqued the bolt over the gooseneck ball to 35 ft/lb, instead of 30, like instructed in the manual at the direction of a demco representative. The base still twisted counter clock-wise. My 5th wheel is a 2013 Rockwood ultra-lite 8280WS gvwr under 10k pin weight stated at 1040 lbs. My gooseneck set up is a B&W turnover ball. My truck is a 2017 ram 2500, Cummins. Any help would be greatly appreciated for this newb

Thank you for your purchase from us of the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045! Now, as for the issue of the base twisting, since you have it torqued correctly, the only thing I can think of is that you are using it with a rotating pin box like a Reese Sidewinder.

The Recon - like all 5th wheel adapters that connect to a gooseneck - are not compatible with rotating pin boxes due to the torque/twisting that is exerted on the hitch with a pivot point that is moved back.
