I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13363 for your 2020 Jeep Compass for a few reasons; it has better welds and a thicker powder coat than other options so we know that it will hold up better, which is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. This option features a hidden crosstube so that you get a nice, OEM look even with the trailer hitch installed.
Since you are wanting to use this for towing you also need a wiring kit. For your application I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56369 which gives you a total Curt towing package.
To complete a towing setup you also need a ball mount kit. I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900 because it includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4” rise/2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise/4” drop, a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You will want to refer to the attached ball mount article to ensure that this kit is correct for your towing application.
Installation videos and a picture of the hitch installed on an '18 Compass have been linked for you to check out. I also recommend checking out your owner's manual to ensure that it's safe for you to tow with your vehicle. When I referenced the online owner's manual it stated that if you have a manual 4WD or a 9-speed automatic then you could tow. Otherwise Jeep advises against it.
