Recommended Air Suspension Enhancement For 2015 Ram 1500 and Bilstein Shocks

Question:

Hello, I need help choosing which shock absorbers and Air Lift setup needed to tow my travel trailer with my 2015 Ram 1500. I cannot find any info online about this combo topic. I believe that I want Bilstein B6 shocks and the Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 Ultimate, we live in Charleston, SC. Will the B6 shock still work if I get the Air Lift later? My Longhorn has the tow package, regular suspension, and we use the Equalizer weight distribution hitch to tow our 36foot Heartland North Trail ultra light which is about 25 below our max tow. We usually tow every 8 weeks or so and usually head to North GA mountains. Sometimes with our Hobie kayaks over the truck. We have been towing since 2017. We just replaced tires on camper and the truck and replaced the factory Ram breaks with the Pro Stop with the red calipers. I am trying to achieve the safest rig possible and to take good care of my truck. Can you make a suggestion?

We have contacted Air Lift in the past and they are compatible with the Bilstein shocks because they do not mount in the same spot. The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Springs w/ internal bumpers part # AL88365 are a great option for your 2015 Ram 1500. I am not able to say which shocks are the best option since we do not carry them, I do not feel comfortable making a recommendation however these bags are compatible with the shocks. Please keep in mind the product does not fit with factory air suspension systems.

The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Springs w/ Internal Bumpers feature internal jounce bumpers if the bag does get torn they will support the load until you can get somewhere to get them fixed. They will help to support the load and prevent any rear sag you may be experiencing.

I recommend to add a compressor system Air Lift Load Controller Compressor System for Air Helper Springs- Heavy Duty - Dual Path part # AL25856 to make inflating the bags easier. This system is a dual path so you can also level out the payload if you need to. Having an on board compressor system eliminates the need to stop at a convenience station for air or carrying around a bulky compressor with you.
