Brake Controller Displays Service Trailer Brakes Using Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator
Question:
I am changing the brakes on my Montana RV to eletric over hydraulic. I got everything hooked up, but when I hit the brakes the actuator come on stops. A message shows service trailer brakes . The only thing I can find is the actuator has a slight draws on the black wires all the time. Is that normal ? I have an other trailer with the same controller on it and it work with the same truck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The black wire showing power on the Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes part # K71-651 is normal because it's the 12V power source from the battery of your vehicle. You want 12V from the black wire to the actuator. I also recommend to check the ground wire to make sure it has a good ground to a clean bare metal surface.
You want to make sure the brake controller you are using is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. If your truck has an integrated brake controller you may need to use an adapter to make the actuator compatible. If you tell me the year make and model of your truck I can look into that.
