M5 Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation Kit for a 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup

Question:

I have a 2006 dodge 3500 mega cab srw.can the 30047 bracket be use with the 27k m5 hitch? I am going to use a fithairbone sidewinder and do not need a sliding hitch. Does this require drilling? what is the estimated install time?

Yes the # RP30074 custom install kit (see instructions link below) will work with your mega cab. The estimated install time is 120 minutes, but that is for the pros. It would take me longer so I would allow more time unless you have installed these before.

When you order the M5 Series fifth-wheel hitch # RP30922, you will need to order for the 8 foot bed to get this option for use with the Fifth Airborne. You will have to drill through the bed of the truck to install the Pucks that the fifth wheel mounts to.

The Fifth Airborne king pin # RP61452 is an excellent choice for shorter bed trucks, but you need to make sure that you measure and use the clearance formula on our Sidewinder page to be sure there will be clearance for your fifth wheel trailer. Normally we recommend sliders for the short bed trucks but since you will be using the Fifth Airborne, that will take place of the slider as long as there is clearance.
