The Curt trailer hitch # C11823 installs onto the vehicle using steel support plates that come with the hitch. It bolts through the spare trunk pan and to the plates which will be inside of the trunk. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.

If you plan on doing some towing the hitch does come with the correct ball mount, hitch pin and clip. For a ball use # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter or # 19258 for a 2 inch. For wiring, use # C59236. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the wiring as well.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, Curt states that you must use a stabilization strap, # 18050, to be in compliance with their warranty requirements. The strap is to be used with all non-trailer loads and reduces the stress on the hitch.
