How to Determine If I Have a Side Mounted or Top Mounted Torflex Axle

Question:

I can find a sticker indicating I have torflex axles, but how do I tell which ones if I cant find a label? Its a deal able horse trailer with 12k gvwr so I assume they are 6k axles. Ive attached a picture of the mounting on the right rear axle.

The way to determine if you have a top mounted or side mounted Torflex axle is by checking to see whether or not the axle is bolted to the frame via the side or the top. I've included some diagrams that show the differences between a side and top mounted Torflex axle that will hopefully clear this up for you.

As for determining your axle's capacity, the GVWR is usually a fairly accurate indicator, but you'll need to find the spec sticker somewhere towards the center of the axle. Since you're right on the cusp of 2 different Torflex axles (#11: 4100 to 6000-lbs and #12: 5500 to 7000-lbs), you could have either one of these axles; I think it's more likely that you have a #12 Torflex axle, but if you can't find the sticker or anything on your trailer that provides the axle specs you will need to reach out to your trailer manufacturer with your VIN to determine exactly which axle you have.

If you have a #11 Torflex axle, you'll want to use the # K71-724-02 to provide you with a 2-7/8" lift.

If you have a #12 Torflex axle, you'll want to use the # K71-725-02 to provide you with a 3-1/8" lift.
