How to Test Trailer Lights for Function
Question:
I would like to have a way to plug my boat trailer lights into my house power in order to check their function. I plan on having switches for each light for testing. I know I need to convert from 120v ac to 12v dc. I dont know how to find the correct converter. Any guidance? Thanks

There isn't a way to plug in the lights from your trailer to your home, but there is a very simple way you can still test the lights on your trailer for function. The easiest way is just to connect the trailer and your tow vehicle, and use Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979 to test the wires on the trailer while someone activates the functions.
You can also test the functions with a standard 12 volt battery and jumper wire with # 10-1-1. Simply touch one end of the jumper wire to the positive post of the battery and then touch the other end to different wires to see what circuits illuminate.
I have also added a link to help articles on trailer wiring and troubleshooting wiring for you to check out.
