Replacement Hubs with L44649 Bearings on Snowmobile Trailer
Question:
Hi, Im working on a 2003 vintage clamshell style snowmobile trailer that needs new hubs. I cant figure out exactly what I need. Here are the details I have so far: 1. Inner and outer bearings look identical but only the inner has a number - L44649. 2. It has 10inch wheels and tires with 5 lugs. Im not sure what the pattern is, see picture. 5x4.5? I think I need the 8-259-5UC1-EZ but they dont look like the original hubs and Im not sure if this is a 2000 or 2200lb axle or if it even matters? What about the AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K hubs? As this is used only in the winter on salty roads would the AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K also be a good choice? I would like EZ Lube hubs and something that is ready for assembly. Thanks!

Based on the information and pictures you provided (thank you!) either the etrailer.com 2K Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-2K or the Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K you referenced would work great as replacements, the only physical difference between the two being their finish.
Since you primarily use the trailer in the winter and on salty roads, I do think the Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K is your best option, as it's just going to do a better job of resisting corrosion and standing up to those harsh elements over time. The hub does feature a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, which is the most common type for this size hub but just to be sure you can verify the measurement you have pictured (it's a bit hard to tell for certain on the image). If you measured 2-5/8" from the center of the first bolt to the center of its neighboring bolt then it does indeed have a 5 on 4-1/2" pattern.
I have attached a short video review on the galvanized hub below that you can also check out.
