Extended Length Ball Mount with 5 Inch Rise for Boat Trailer
Question:
I need to extend my 2inch hitch ~6inch to get it past the end of the bumper on my vehicle, and need a 5inch rise to get the height to match the tongue of my trailer. What product or products do I need to accomplish this? The weight of my trailer and boat combined are 7,500 lbs. The hitch extenders Ive seen say they are not meant for towing, and the Curt extra long ball mount is only certified for 6,000 lbs.

You won't want to use an extender, because doing so would lower the hitch capacity by half, which wouldn't work for you. This being said, I believe we have a solution for you that will get you all the length you need and almost all the elevation.
You don't mention how long your existing ball mount is, but if it's typical like the # AMSC2 at 9-1/2 inches from hitch pin hole to the center of the hole where the trailer ball mounts, the Curt # D900 is 15-1/4 inches long from hitch pin hole to the center of the trailer ball and would provide you with 4 inches of rise. If this would put your trailer within 1 to 1-1/2 inches of level, that's considered close enough. When used with the 2 inch ball, it has a capacity of 7500 lbs or 10000 lbs with the 2-5/16 inch ball. This is going to be your best bet that will get you super-close to where you need to be. This adjustable ball mount will not lower your hitch capacity because it won't cause the bounce that an extender plus a ball mount would. Because the shank and the ball platform are two separate pieces, you may get some rattle but that's the nature of the beast with an adjustable ball mount of this sort.
You'll want to be sure that the as-towed weight of the boat doesn't exceed the capacity of the hitch or the vehicle itself.
