How To Carry Kayak On Roof Of 2009 Volvo C70

Question:

This looks like it might work for my 10-ft kayak by attaching rear mount to hitch and running straps on front through windows. Can you confirm?

I do have an option for you but the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier w/ Hitch Mounted Load Extender and Single-Bar Roof Rack part # DTA944-968-924 is going to be too tall to use on your vehicle to transport the kayak level with the roof. The Volvo is about 4-1/2 feet tall and the Darby will be a foot taller then the vehicle once installed in the hitch. Also, the Darby needs to be installed in a 2" hitch and it looks like you have a 1-1/4" Class I hitch on the Volvo.

Instead, the only viable option to carry the kayak is the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack - Vacuum Cup Mount part # 298-SX6000B to put a roof rack on the Volvo. This is the only roof rack available at this time for the C70 but it is a very convenient way to transport the kayak because of it's easy installation and removal. It attaches using very strong vacuum cups which can be installed in minutes. Then you can use SUP and Surfboard Pads for SeaSucker Monkey Bars - 19-1/2" Long - Qty 2 part # 298-SA1022 to transport the kayak. The pads come with tie downs as well. This is the most cost effective option to carry the Kayak on the Volvo at this time.
