For your Highlander I recommend the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" part # e98844. This hitch has a really nice matte black finish on it that holds up against the element really well when compared to the others available. It offers a 900 lb. tongue weight rating and a 6000 lb. gross trailer weight rating. You can use weight distribution if you have that need which brings the rating up to 8000 lb of gross trailer weight. This exceeds your vehicles rating so be sure to check your owners manual and don't exceed that.

If you require wiring for a trailer or cargo carrier Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118811 is my recommendation. This will allow you to haul trailers with a standard 4 pole connector and is very dependable and reliable . If you have the need for a 7-way plug then you always add part # ETBC7 onto that and have a fully functional 7-way and 4-way available. If you decide to do the 7-way using part # C57202 will make attaching it to your hitch quite easy.
