Our best selling brake controller will be the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. It is a proportional brake controller which means that the brakes are applied to the trailer at the same time and same strength as the brakes on your vehicle. I am including links to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.
You will need to hard-wire a 7-Way connector on your 1968 Chevrolet C50 truck to install the Prodigy brake controller. If you have a 4-Way connector on your truck now you will need to use the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC7, which includes the wiring, circuit breakers, connectors, and vehicle side connector with mounting bracket, to upgrade to a 7-Way. I am including a link to a FAQ page on installation of the # ETBC7 kit and a link to a video that will describe how to install the # ETBC7.
If you do not have a 4-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle I would cut the 4-way off of the 7 and 4-Way connector, included in the # ETBC7 kit, and hard wire it behind the vehicles taillights, rather than installing a 4-Way connector on the vehicle and plugging it into the connector. You can use an appropriate length of Bonded 3 Wire, part # 16-3B-1. Remember to get enough wire so you can attach the wires to both sides of the vehicle.
