Can a 2006 Scion xB with a Curt Hitch Tow a Sailboat and Trailer that Weigh 400 lbs
Question:
I have a small sailboat that weighs approximately 400# on the trailer. I can lift the tongue of the trailer with one hand so that tells me that there wouldnt be too much weight bearing down on the hitch. If the hitch capacity says 200#tw and 2000# gtw does this sound reasonable. Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch # 11487 that you referenced has towing capacities of 2,000 gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. If your sailboat and trailer only weighs 400 lbs and you can lift the tongue of the trailer with one hand this hitch should be more than adequate for your 2006 Scion xB. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out.
It would still be a good idea to check the tongue weight of your trailer when its loaded just to be sure. I linked an faq article that details how to determine tongue weight.
You should also check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if there are any restrictions on your vehicle for towing trailers.
