Using Wheel Protectors with Konig XG 12 on 2019 BMW X3 with 245/50R19 Tires

Question:

Hello again, I received these size 250 self tensioning xl-12 pro chains this week and tried installing them in the garage yesterday. The instructions were great and installation went well. My only concern is that I was able to pull most of the cable through the ratchet and only about 1” is left. I didn’t drive on them to see how much more they would tighten. We have no snow yet. I am worried that the cable might max out through the ratchet. I will upload a few photos for you and look forward to any suggestions you might have. Thanks,

The wheel protectors that come with the Konig Chains part # TH01594247 are optional but I strongly recommend using them if you value your wheels! You'll just need to put them in the best locations that will protect the wheels. There isn't a set place they have to go so you'll need to use your best judgment.

You won't need the extra links but I would hold onto them in case something were to happen and you'd need to replace them.

I attached an install video for these for you to check out as well.

While the tension ratchet is pretty far through the channel of the chains the fact that you have an inch left after tightening it means it's good as-is. These do fit several tire sizes which means they fit some tighter than others but yours is set up fine and will work well for you!
