For your 2020 Mini Cooper S, there is a great option for a trunk-mounted bike rack, so long as your Mini has the optional wing-type spoiler, so the straps can be routed under the wing. If you take a look at the accompanying photos, which are from Yakima, you can see exactly what I'm referring to.
If you have that spoiler, I highly recommend the Yakima FullBack # Y02634, which is a 2-bike carrier, or FullBack # Y02633 which is a 3-bike carrier because of its high-quality anti-sway cradles that ensure your bikes remain steady on the rack, protecting them and your Mini.
The anti-sway cradles work together with ratcheting straps to secure your bikes at three different points which keep the bikes from making contact with each other as well as your vehicle. The FullBack also has arms which adjust and fold down for when you are not using the rack and are made of steel to ensure durability but are padded to protect your Mini from any scratches or scuffing.
