Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71 4WD
Question:
2020 Chevy Colorado Z71 4WD what do I need to flat tow this truck. It's not the Trail Boss that I see you don't have fits for with the base plates.

A complete flat towing setup consists of a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. Below are my recommendations for your 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71 4WD:
Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - # RM-523182-5
Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - # RM-676 (includes safety cables and some wiring)
Towing Combo Kit - # RM-9284-2
Stay-IN-Play DUO Brake System - # SM99251 (motorhome hydraulic brakes)
OR
Air Force One Brake System - # SM99243 (motorhome air brakes)
I really like the Direct-Connect setup because it is very easy to connect/disconnect and it has the safety cables and umbilical built-into the tow bar for a great looking system and so that you don't have to keep track of a bunch of different parts. The combo kit includes the rest of the wiring that you need (see attached install video of the wiring kit # RM-15267 for a reference), but it also has locks and a storage cover for the tow bar. The 2 brake systems referenced come from Demco and are known to be reliable plus they require the least amount of setup after the initial installation.
Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to check out as well as an article that will help you determine which is the best one for your application.
When I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Colorado I saw that you have to disconnect the batter to flat tow it. I recommend installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 so that disconnecting your battery just requires the flip of a switch.
