Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with Spare Tire Under Vehicle
Question:
Hi all! Looking to set up my 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe for towing a light cargo trailer. Needing the hitch and wiring. I do have a spare tire underneath so want to make sure that will still fit too with the trailer hitch. Just looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Starting with the hitch I highly recommend the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver # C13195 for your 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. It will line right up to existing holes in the vehicle's frame rails for a simple bolt-on (no-drill) installation and while you will need to temporarily remove the spare tire during the install process, it will fit back into place once the hitch is mounted. I like the Curt option in particular because of its superior black powder coat finish that tends to last longer than those from other manufacturers and its higher weight capacities.
The hitch itself features a 750 pound tongue weight limit and a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds (although you will still be limited by the vehicle's capacities as listed in your owner's manual). I have attached a full installation video that you can use for reference, along with a couple images of the hitch installed so you can see exactly how it will look on your brand new Santa Fe.
Then for the wiring harness the Curt T-Connector # CU94FR will work perfectly. This custom harness will simply plug into an existing port behind the rear bumper eon the driver's side. Once plugged in you will have a 4-Way connector capable of powering your trailer's basic signal lights.
I have again attached an installation video that you can follow along with.
Lastly in order to tow a trailer you will need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have attached a great article below that explains how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our complete selection.
