Solution to Power Tailgate LED Lightbar on 2016 Ford F-150 to Prevent Trailer Connection Message
Question:
I just bought a 2016 Ford F150 XTR with a tow package. It has the lights under the tailgate plugged into the four way plug. I am looking for a plug and play connector so that it does not read that I have a trailer connected. Do you have any suggestion? I want to keep the lights but do not want to have them connected on the bumper plug.

Best option to power your tailgate LED light bar that uses a trailer 4-way connector that your truck won't confuse is a trailer connected will be with a universal style 4-way wired to your taillight wiring like with the # 119250KIT. This will give you the second 4-way for the light bar and will leave your factory 4-way to use with an actual trailer. This would be the only way to give you what you are looking for. This kit is unique because instead of requiring you to splice into the truck wiring this uses sensors that attach to the truck wiring which makes for an easier install as well.
