Will Fixed Fifth Wheel Hitch Fit Factory Pucks of Short Bed 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

I was wondering if I would be able to use a fixed fifth wheel hitch in my 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed? I have a sidewinder type of pin box and don't need a sliding hitch so can I use a fixed hitch?

Yes, you can use a fixed fifth wheel hitch in the pucks of your short bed 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500. I checked with B&W, the manufacturers of the outstanding B&W Companion hitches, and found out the puck spacing of the Sliding B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3775 has a distance between its pucks of 22.3" wide and 13" deep, while the Fixed B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3710 also has 22.3" wide and 13" deep puck spacing.

To use a fixed fifth wheel hitch with a Sidewinder I highly recommend using a custom wedge as this is a much better fit than the universal wedge the Sidewinder comes with. For example, you will need the 5th Airborne Custom Wedge for B&W Fifth Wheels # SWW-06 with the # BWRVK3710.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.

What would be the best hitch set up for a 2019 F-250 6.2 gas V-8 towing a 2014 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheel with a hitch weight of 2200 lbs. and a dry weight of 10,800 lbs. ?

Can you tell me if the F-250 has a short bed or long bed, along with whether or not it's equipped with the factory puck/rail system?

I have a 6.5’ bed o a 6.2 liter gas V-8 on my Ford F-250 . What would be the best hitch set up to tow a 2014 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback 291K ? My truck does have the factory puck system .

thanks for the info! For your Short bed Ford F-250 with the factory puck system, I HIGHLY recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3370. This is designed to drop right into those pucks to provide you with an extremely secure connection to the trailer that will create a really smooth, enjoyable ride while towing.

How do you determine if your truck has the factory puck system ?

The factory puck system consists of 4 literal puck shaped mounts spaced apart on the truck bed. They are used to mount a 5th wheel hitch directly to the pucks (without the use of separate base rails). If you look at your truck bed and just see a bare floor then it doesn't have the factory puck setup.

Is the 6’8” bed considered to be a short bed ?

When it comes to picking out the right 5th wheel hitch, we do consider any bed shorter than 8 feet long a "short bed" truck. It's likely that you will need a sliding 5th wheel hitch to ensure the ability to make a 90 degree turn without running into issues with cab interference.

Will the B and W companion work on my 2019 F-250 for all fifth wheels under 18000 hitch weight and 16000 gw ? I’m new to this so I hope this is not to stupid of a question .

If your F-250 has the factory puck system in the bed you will use the Companion Slider # BWRVK3370 if you have the short bed or the fixed version # BWRVK3300 if you have the long bed. Both options feature a 20,000 pound weight capacity so they would have no problem pulling any 5th wheel that's under that weight.
