How to Deter Theft of Portable Solar Panels
Question:
How secure is portable panels solar? What can prevent someone from stealing the panel left outside your camper if you are not around. I like the idea of portable but to spend $300-$500 and leave it all day outside I would be concerned about the security?

There isn't anything out there that's going to prevent theft of a Portable Solar System like # 34282610. The best you can do is try to make it as hard as possible for a potential thief to steal the panels, but if someone is determined, they can and will steal pretty much anything.
Most people use cable locks to secure their solar panels. The best option for that I believe is the ToyLok Retractable Cable Lock with Padlock # LC337120. You can mount the box on your trailer and find a suitable location to run the braided steel cable through the panels, like the handle for example.
Below are a few interesting ideas I found online as well:
Put alarm stickers or a "smile, you're on candid camera" sticker on the trailer
Put up fake or real surveillance camera(s) like # RVS-9000
Set a mat out with a massive dog bone and bowl (this one is my favorite)
If possible, avoid leaving for extended periods of time but if you must, it's probably best to fold the panels up and store them away. If you need to make a quick run, make sure the panels are set out in a high visibility area (or well-lit at night) since crooks are more likely to attempt swiping something if they can be inconspicuous.
