Electric Brake Controller for 2003 Fleetwood Providence on Freightliner Chasis
Question:
I have a 2003 Fleetwood providence that I need to install a brake controller. Is there a pre-ran cable somewhere under the dash in order to hook the controller into. It has a 7 prong trailer connector in the rear.

I have a solution for you, but I checked with one of our contacts at Freightliner, who manufacture the chassis that the 2003 Fleetwood Providence is built on, and they mentioned that the pre-2004 chassis does not have an included adapter plug for the easy installation of a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885.
For this reason you will need to hard-wire your brake controller into your 2003 Fleetwood Providence. In order to get the brake signal for the red wire, you will have to pickup the Brake Signal off of the Treadle Valve at the back of the Brake Pedal. The Treadle Valve is a valve that is operated by the Brake Pedal and directs air pressure from the dry reservoir tank to the brake chambers. The Treadle Valve also has a pressure switch that activates the brake lights on the rear of the vehicle.
Once you've located the brake signal at the Treadle Valve, you'll need to use # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) for 10 gauge wire to connect the brake signal to the controller and then run the brake control wire, 12v power wire and ground wire to have a fully functioning brake controller in your rig.
If you need any additional wiring for this installation, the Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire # 10-2-1 is also available by the foot.
