Location of Curt Class I Hitch # C11221 on 2012 Chevrolet Volt For Hitch Bike Rack
Question:
Can you provide a picture of the finished installation on a 2012 volt. I am interested to see if the 1.25 inch square tube receiver is offset from the backup light on the Volt and if so, to which side, driver or passenger. Is there a time lapsed video of the hitch being installed? Thanks

We have not had the opportunity to install the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11221, on a 2012 Chevrolet Volt at this time.
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Curt hitch that will show good pictures of where the hitch is located on the Volt in relation to the backup light. It looks like it is located right underneath the backup light.
If you will be using this hitch to carry a bike rack you will need to make sure and choose a bike rack that is designed to fit a Class 1 1-1/4 inch hitch. Also, on a Class I hitch you will be limited to a maximum of two bikes. I am including a link to a product page that will list the Class I hitch bike racks that I have available.
On Curt Class I and II (and some Class III) trailer hitches, Curt requires the use of the Curt Support Strap, part # 18050, for non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers to be in compliance with their warranty requirements.
The strap is meant to help support the accessory mounted in the rack which relieves some stress on the hitch.
