Comparing the GM Tow Package and Aftermarket Tow Package for a 2020 Chevy Traverse

Question:

I just got a 2020 Chevy Traverse but it not come with the GM tow package. It turns out we need to tow a travel trailer so would we be better off taking the vehicle to the dealer to have the GM tow package installed or going with aftermarket parts that you guys offer? I guess I am not entirely sure what all the GM towing package consists of.

The factory towing package on a 2020 Chevy Traverse consists of a trailer hitch and trailer wiring harness which we have options for on this vehicle. The main difference between the factory and aftermarket components is mainly cost therefore aftermarket is what I recommend as it will be most effective. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # CU29FR which installs just as the factory hitch would with no drilling or cutting required. The best part of all is that the factory hitch knock-out panel can be reinstalled when not in use. I have attached an install video for you.

For a trailer wiring harness, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118761 for 4-way and part # 118287 for 7-way are plug and play options just like the factory trailer wiring harness would be. In order to mount either to the bracket on the above hitch you will also need part # 18144 for the 4-way or part # PK12711U for the 7-way.
