Will Installing Curt Trailer Hitch Affect Ground Clearance on 2019 Volvo XC90

Question:

I am planning on adding the Curt C53HR hitch to my 2019 Volvo XC90 and wondering if it will cut into my ground clearance and by how much? Thanks.

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C53HR will cut just a bit into the ground clearance on your 2019 Volvo XC90, however it's really only going to sit a small amount below the lowest factory point on the vehicle, which looks to be the muffler. When we installed this hitch on the 2018 Volvo XC90 we measured a distance of 13-3/4" from the ground to the top of the 2" receiver. You can take this measurement up from the ground with your Volvo parked on a level surface to get a good idea of where the receiver will sit when installed.

I am purchasing this hitch from you, I watched the video for the 2018 XC90 install - However I cannot find a video on your site for the 2019 XC90 install. Would you be able to forward me the video for the 2019 install? And any other useful information you have so I can properly conduct the home install for this product? The video would be very helpful but cant find it on your site. Additionally what torque wrench etc would I need to purchase. And if I'm only hauling bikes - do i really need to worry about that? Thanks!

As of right now we haven't had a chance to install this on the 2019 model year of the Volvo XC90 so it unfortunately doesn't exist. The good news is that the installation will be the exact same so you can still use the video of the 2018 to assist you in this install. As far as torque wrench goes I recommend the Powerbuilt Beam-Type # ALL644044 for your application. It is important to install the trailer hitch exactly as the instructions say to ensure that it stays installed and keeps your bikes safe. All other equipment needed can be found in the instructions which are linked to the product page.
