Is There a Battery Power Wire on the Hopkins Plug-In Wiring Harness for a 2003 Honda Accord

Question:

Hi, the product information says, This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuitsbut when I looked at the directions I did not see anything that looked like routing power from car battery. Does this mean this unit requires its own battery or do the instructions leave out the part about connecting to battery? I like the idea of the powered converter which minimizes strain on vehicle lighting circuit so am more interested in this product if battery is the vehicle battery.

The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # HM11143135 which is a fit for a 2003 Honda Accord does require that you route the power wire from the converter to the vehicle's battery. I have attached a generic help article for you on this exact process if needed. The power wire as you mentioned prevents the trailer lights drawing power from the vehicle's taillight circuits.

If you don't already have a trailer hitch, the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24787 is an excellent option that does not require drilling into the frame.
