How To Charge 12 Volt Battery In Enclosed Trailer Powering Lights

Question:

I was hoping to install a 12 volt deep cycle battery inside my trailer versus the tongue and a charger that after a day / evening of working I could just plug in my 110 volt equipped outlet and charge over night . Im wanting to power 12 volt , app. 24foot of led strip lights , 2 fans , 2 ext. flood lights . Can I do this and what products would you recommend ? Thanks so much for your response .

Yes, it is possible to use a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery on a trailer to power lights, fans, etc. That said, you will need to combine the amp draw rating of all accessories and then subtract this from the amp hour rating of the battery to make sure you have have enough power. However, most fans and lights don't require much power so you should be alright so long as you are mindful. The Optronics Flexible LED Light Strip part # UCL90CB for example only draws 2.7 amps. I have attached a list of some other utility lights we offer as well. I highly recommend LED as they draw much less power.

For a battery charger, the NOCO Genius Battery Charger part # 329-GENIUS5 will be perfect for the above battery and will work just fine with a 110 VAC outlet. The 2.5-Watt Solar Battery Charger part # PTW2997 could be added during the day as well to provide just that bit more of power.
