Wiring Multi-Function Tail Lights to Silverado with Separate Wiring
Question:
I purchased the above truck - blinker lights did not work didnt think it would be much of a fix but now need advice. The truck was fitted with a Reading dump bed. The wiring cable bundle going to each light tail light has 6 wires in it. upon metering the wiring it appears out of the 6 it has a separate wire for the Marker light, Blinker, Stop, and Reverse. Almost all of the lights I can find at parts stores are 4 function but 3 wire lights. Is there a converter to make those work. Or do I need to go to a specific 4 wire light? by the way hook a trailer to it and all lights on the trailer work fine.

It sounds like a converter is needed between the truck's separate wiring and the combined wired tail lights on the retro-fitted dump bed. For this you can use the Roadmaster Brite-Lite # RM-732. You will take the brake light, left turn, and right turn circuit wires from the truck and connect to them red, yellow, and green wires (respectively) on the converter. The running/tail light circuit wire will bypass the converter and go straight to the light assemblies.
The converter will then combine these circuits to give you a left stop/turn wire (yellow) and a right stop/turn wire (green) on the other side to connect to the tail light assemblies.
I have attached a short video review on this unit that you can check out as well.
