How To Raise a 5th Wheel Trailer To Sit Level With a Ford F-350

Question:

My 2019 F-350 DRW 4X4 and 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 27.5 5th wheel are not level trailer nose up. Trailer currently has 4inch of clearance at center top of tailgate and 6inch siderail clearance at the king pin. The trailer springs are already on top of the axels so no over/under kit solution. I need to raise the trailer axels 3 or 4 inches or lower the truck bed to make level with truck rails. Years ago, I had a similar issue with a 2002 F-350 SRW and solved it by installing F-250 spring blocks shorter between axel and springs but labor costs were quite high. Is there another solution?

Yes, the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX is the solution to your problem which is to raise the trailer in order to sit level with the tow vehicle. This problem is actually very common nowadays as trucks continue to sit higher and higher which is why aftermarket lift kits such as the above are available.

The Tandem Axle Lift Kit is easy to install so you should not have to pay someone to do this for you or at least not very much and you don't have to worry about voiding the vehicle's warranty if you were to try and lower the tow vehicle. The Lippert Components Tandem Axle Lift Kit provides a 2" lift and is pretty much your only other option since the leaf springs have already been flipped.

My axles are lippert, they are already on the bottom of the leaf springs.I have taken measurements, to level my rig out I need to raise my 5th wheel 2-3 inch. The leppert kit is just under 2 inches. Are there not other kits that add blocks with longer u-bolts. Would that work ?

We do have some block-style lift kits available but they are designed for certain model Lippert axles. Unfortunately we don't have anything that's a fit for your 6,000 pound units. You could cut off your existing hangers and weld on longer ones, otherwise our best available option is the Lippert Lift Kit # LC407131 already mentioned.

I have a 2019 F350 4x4, and a 35ft 2014 Canyon Trail by Gulf Stream. I think the nose is too high, butting excess load on the rear axial & tires. I think that I need to raise the RV 3 inches to level the load. the axials are Lippert rated at 6000#.

Do you happen to know what type of axles are on the Canyon Trail? I wasn't able to track down this information myself. If they're standard 3" diameter round axles, and the leaf springs aren't already on top of the axles, you could use the Over-Under Kit # K71-385-00 to raise the trailer by the combined height of the axle and leaf spring stack. The Lippert Kit # LC407131 Conner mentioned above is still an option as well, although this will only lift you up about 2". If you have torsion or square axles let me know and we'll go from there!
