Comparing the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller to Redarc Tow-Pro Elite For 2019 Audi Q5
Question:
I have a 2016 Audi Q5 with an Audi dealer installed trailer hitch and 7 pin wiring harness. I am considering the Curt Spectrum or Redarc Tow-Pro Elite for my trailer brake controller. Is one or the other better for use on the Audi Q5?

The Curt Spectrum Brake Controller part # C51170 and Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional part # RED44FR are both great options for the 2019 Audi Q5 however, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite over the Spectrum.
The Redarc Tow-Pro has the user controlled mode of the controller which allow you to brake the trailer brakes with a pre-set intensity based on terrain which is great if you find yourself towing through sand or mud. They will both work as proportional controllers as well that brake the trailer's brakes with the same intensity as the vehicle brakes. The Redarc is also in my opinion more aesthetically pleasing because it's a much smaller knob compared to the Spectrum. The Redarc does require a cut out to install because recessed compared to the Spectrum that is surface mount. I think the recessed installation looks sleeker.
The Curt Spectrum requires wiring adapter part # C51515 for the Audi. No additional wiring is needed for the Redarc.
