Recommended Brake Controller and 7-Way for 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

I plan on getting hitch 76104, but I need some advice on what I need to add for a brake controller as well for 2020 jeep wrangler unlimited. I don't have any tow package and there isn't any trailer wiring already so what would you recommend for wiring to add a 7-way and what brake controller?

To add a brake controller on your 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited you'll need to start by adding a 4-way, and I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118786 because it has the highest maximum amperage among harnesses available for your '20 Wrangler Unlimited, which means it offers you the best protection against potential shorts. You will also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7-way connector, circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install a brake controller.

The brake controller I highly recommend for your '20 Wrangler Unlimited is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR because of its control knob which keeps a cumbersome unit out of the cab of your Wrangler, and because it gives you more control over your trailer braking power than any other brake controller.

The control knob of the Tow-Pro Elite can be installed anywhere you like in your Jeep, as you can see by the accompanying photo, which is the unit installed in a Wrangler Unlimited. This saves you space in the cab of your Jeep and also means you won't be bumping your knee against a unit that has to mount under the dash, which is a bane to the majority of brake controller users.

Along with being able to mount the control knob wherever you like, the Tow-Pro Elite also has two braking modes, the standard proportional control, which powers your trailer brakes with the same intensity as your vehicle brakes, or user-controlled mode, which allows you to apply the brakes with a pre-set amount of power. This can be really helpful in a number of situations, and especially helpful when going off-road or even in more mountainous areas. The reason is because on a steep decline you can use the control knob to set your trailer braking to a higher intensity, which keeps the trailer from pushing your Jeep.
